The night is falling. It’s dark outside and it is raining. Every falling drop of water makes that sound on a fallen leaf and it reminds me of those rains i spent with you. We had a great time together.
We didnt have much in common. So we used to end up listening to each other rant about our day. It never mattered if those topics interested us, because what mattered was that we sat there, together under the tree- Me with a book in my hands with the rainy wind ruffling the pages to a completely different chapter- and you with your earphones dangling on your shoulders quite unaware of what song was playing. Your eyes- dont even get me started about them. There is some spark, some magic in those eyes of yours that used to accentuate our enthralling conversations. I was spellbound and so were you. You never expressed it well. But i think i understood even without you telling me- because the warmth of your words always reached me when i was cold. Everytime i needed you, you were there- handling my every emotion gracefully. So yes, i knew that the depth of your affection for me matched mine. When the storm inside me looked like this rain outside, you were like that little rainbow who reminded me that even the heaviest of storms lets the sunrays come in…
But now, it is all a memory- a memory that comes to me with the smell of every rain, the memory that comes with the fresh brew of every coffee, the memory that comes with every single breath..
So i want you to know my dear, if you feel as if we are drifting apart, that sometimes distance leaves your heart dishevelled, it makes every day a little less bearable and it makes you yearn for your love more than ever when we cannot meet. But in all these times, when we cannot share beautiful moments and cannot make new memories, it is enough for us to reminisce about each other with every breath we breathe.. So my dear, when it feels so arduous, just breathe with me…
