Her Story

She had hid behind her smile, her past
she had thought the pain wouldn’t last.
It had been three years, she’d counted
It should’ve been long gone, surmounted.
But here she was, torn between the two things-
What the past brought, what the future brings.

She had thought that she would be alright,
but something inside her was just not right.
It was like the past had taken a toll
and so she was never going to be whole.
It was a mistake, she kept on saying and saying
or were those her feelings she had been betraying?

Who are you fooling, you foolish girl!
Searching for glitter when you have a pearl?
Do what you should
before it’s too late
You say your life was good?
Go make it great!

So there she was, with a rose in her hand
Got down on one knee, her shin kissing the sand
“Forgive me for I have been a fool
I was always yours, my heart you rule
I was happy, but YOU made me whole
And when you were gone, I lost my soul”

That being said he took her hand
“I forgive you, yes, I understand”
The evening wind blew the waves to the shore
She had everything, she wanted nothing more
“You would come back I always knew so,
This time I’m holding you, never to let go”
