Perseverance And Thereafter

He always wanted this day to arrive,
“To achieve this goal, I must thrive.”
Night and day he worked so hard
“ My success will surely set me apart.”

Gave up all the material happiness,
“On all my desires, I shall put a harness.”
For a better future, he had to be wise,
“ I know I have to make this sacrifice.”

Now that he’d finally reached where he wanted;
“ I understand I mustn’t take it for granted.”

Opening the window of his new mansion,
he took a deep breath of satisfaction.
Saw a homeless man sitting barefoot on the road
“ He probably doesn’t even have his own abode.”

Coming so far he still knew his roots,
Went to his wardrobe and took an old pair of boots
Sharing happiness only makes it double,
“Bless you, young man, you are so humble!”

Sat in his room in front of the dusty old piano,
chuckled thinking of the time he wanted to be a soprano.
“Sure, I had to give this up back then for a while
Coming back to it now seems much more worthwhile.”

Patience & perseverance can get you where you want.
Any reward to yourself, then you can grant.
So just keep going, it seems a bit tough now;
Be dedicated, stay humble; and destiny shall bow.
